Judges Statement:

This quarter block project represents the coming infill and ‘repair’ of the auto ravaged urban neighborhood. Affordable transportation options are

important to seniors. Sitting in a network of streets and one block from public transporation, this location provides the residents an opportunity to meet most of their needs

by walking, biking, and public transportation, ride share, car share, and other new transportation options. The building design creates two active, porous, landscaped

street faces with the main entry, community uses, that provide observation and interest that conribute to enhanced walkability. The scale of the building fits well with the

emerging plan for this transit corridor and surrounding neighobrhood. The architecture provides color, interest, and animation to the building facades to further enliven the

public realm.
